How far in advance can I/should I book my session?

My goal is to finish fully retouching your chosen images within 1-2 weeks from your session. If you are planning on giving your images as a gift, please plan your session around 1- 1.5 months out from your gift-giving date in case you need to reschedule due to sickness, or to give time for product shipping. Planning your shoot in advance is more than welcome and will help reduce the amount of things you need to worry about as you get closer to the big day! I'm used to shooting wedding photography, so booking even a year in advance is no problem for me.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, of course! If they are coming along for moral support, please keep it to one trustworthy person to avoid distractions during the shoot (a best friend, a mom, or a bridesmaid/MOH are great to have along. Just remember to bring someone who is supportive and will help you enjoy the process). Due to the nature of the shoot, and the cost of the equipment that will be in the vicinity, I do ask that you make arrangements to leave children with a sitter or family member during your shoot. If you are interested in a group shoot (such as for a bachelorette party activity) please let me me know and we can schedule that!

Do I get to keep digitals of my images?

Every session ends with a a chance to view and order your images. All but the Quickie Collection include images as part of the session fee. These will be delivered on a private, online gallery where you will be free to view and download. Additional images can be added to every collection and included on your gallery. Additional images chosen for product purchases (such as an album) will also be fully retouched and added to your online gallery.

Do I have to order products?

The Gift and Glamour Collections both come with a discrete linen gift box of your 10 favorite images as 4x6 matted prints which is perfect for you to keep or give as a gift to your lover. There is no pressure to order additional prints or products. The images included in your online gallery (included in the Gift & Glamour Collections) are high-resolution and yours to download should you wish to order your own products elsewhere. Additional images can be added to each collection's gallery.

What if I'm nervous?

That's totally normal! I promise you, everyone starts their session feeling nervous and a little apprehensive and every session ends with us both cracking up and laughing. I do my best to put you at ease and tell some jokes. I like to think of it as a day spent hanging out with a girlfriend trying on outfits and getting dolled up, or heading with them to the beach in a new swimsuit. I want you to have fun in addition to creating beautiful images. I won't stand you on the other side of the room without talking, nor do I expect you to know how to model! I'll talk to you throughout and let you know what I'm doing, and help show and tell you how to pose to look your best. We can always meet for coffee in advance of your shoot too if that will help put your mind at ease that at least I'm not a creeper!

What if I'm not getting married? Can I still book a boudoir session?

Absolutely! While my focus is on brides for marketing, I can definitely shoot a boudoir session for any occassion whether as a self-confidence boosting session for you, or as an anniversary or holiday gift for your lover.

What is your experience?

Short Answer: I've had a decade of professional photography experience and have shot over 150 weddings. I continually hone my craft, studying lighting and posing, to ensure the best experience for my clients possible since I began my photography career in 2008. Long Answer: I learned darkroom film photography back in both high school and a course in college. After studying abroad in London for a semester, and taking photos literally every day while I was there, I decided to purse photography as a career. Over the years I've taken on odd portrait jobs, such as senior photos, families, and kids, and headshots. I shot several editorial style shoots, and spent 2 seasons taking daycare and preschool photos for a business based out of Souix Falls, SD. I also mixed in several weddings both solo and as an assistant during this time before joinging up with Bellagala as a contract wedding photographer in 2013. Since then, I've mainly focused on wedding photography, and have logged over 150 weddings between a lead and 2nd shooter. During my time with Bellagala, I have been nominated for Best Photographer 2 years in a row, won the "Most Client Reviews" award, and the "Office Impression" award (with a large crew of both talented photographers, and other talented wedding vendors, I consider that a huge honor!). I've had 2 weddings through Bellagala published in bridal blogs ("Borrowed & Blue" and "Perfect Wedding Guide of Minnesota") and have had a personal shoot published in Pump Magazine. Practice and knowledge is super important to me. I'm always studying new techniques and practicing lighting and posing. I took a seminar just last year with photography Scott Kelby of KelbyOne, and have taken CreativeLive courses by renowned portrait photographers (Sue Bryce for example) and have studied from my small library of photography books on a variety of subjects. My goal is to know exactly how to get the shot that will make you look the best, so you don't have to worry about it!

Who is your Hair and Makeup Artist?

I have a small handful of talented HMUA that specialize in weddings and who have loads of experience doing hair and makeup for photo shoots and that I trust to make you look your best. I want to be sure that I have someone that I trust that will be available during your shoot. There will be profiles for them on my website soon, but in the meantime, you can check out Sarah Elizabeth Artistry, and Sandy Xiong Beauty online.

What if I want to use my own Hair and Makeup Artist?

That's great! A bridal boudoir session is a great day to schedule your hair and makeup trial with your wedding. Please reach out to me and we can make sure that we schedule your session appropriately!

Where do you shoot? Do we have to be at my house?

I love the intimacy of capturing you in your space during an in-home session. I think it also adds a lot of meaning to your photos if you're giving them as a gift too seeing them in the space you have made so many memories in! You don't have to live in a fancy home, just tidy up a little before I head over ;) I always bring fun lighting with me that can transform a space. And who knows? You might have some gorgeous window light we can take advantage of. However, I do also have a studio on Main Street, Stillwater! It can bring across both bridal and moody vibes depending on how you choose to have your session styled. The only downside, is that the studio is unfortunately NOT handicap accessible and on the 2nd floor. One last option, (if you are visiting town, hosting a bachelorette party, or even just having a stay-cation), we can arrange on-site shoots at your hotel/airbnb as they make for a great boudoir setting as well!
